"The catalogs and sessions just work, which is..."
The catalogs and sessions just work, which is more than I can say for a lot of other software that seems designed to make shoots messy and stressful. This keeps everything tidy without me having to fight with it, and I’m annoyed I’ve put up with worse for so long

"Great results, but the slowdowns and constant verification get old"
I do like Capture One overall because the image quality is really nice and the color tools are great. When it’s running smoothly, editing feels satisfying. But performance has been hit or miss for me. Some days it’s totally fine, and then other times it starts dragging badly with bigger catalogs or when I’m using masks. What’s also annoying is the repeated verification stuff — it feels like I’m being asked to prove myself over and over when I just want to get into my edits. It’s not bad software at all, I just wish it felt faster and less frustrating for what it costs.

"Support got back to me super fast 🙂"
I reached out with an issue and they replied really quickly. They got it sorted without any hassle, which I really appreciated 👍

"Great for color editing"
Well... I’ve been using Capture One mostly for color work, and it’s been really good. The color editor feels easy to control, and I can adjust skin tones without throwing off the rest of the photo. It did take me a little while to get comfortable with it, but now I actually prefer it over the other options I’ve tried.

"Umm, I’ve actually been happy..."
Umm, I’ve actually been happy with the recent Capture One updates. A few of the tools feel quicker and easier to use now, which makes a difference. It still takes some time to learn your way around, but overall the changes have been good

"It works fine overall, and the camera support..."
It works fine overall, and the camera support is solid. But, uh... my lens isn’t supported, which is a bit frustrating

"Exporting has been smooth for me"
In my experience, Capture One has been really solid for sorting and exporting client sets. I mostly use the export recipes, and they save me from a ton of extra clicking while keeping my file names consistent. So far, I haven’t run into missing files or messy folder issues, which is always a relief. Overall, I’m happy with it

"Cloud and mobile still feel unfinished to me"
I really wanted the cloud and mobile features to be smoother, but in my experience they still feel kind of half-baked. Syncing takes longer than I’d expect, and the mobile app is missing some basic things I personally need day to day.

"Refund was kinda quick and easy"
I cancelled my subscription and asked for a refund, and I kinda expected it to be a hassle. But it really wasn’t. Support got back to me quickly and the money came through without any issues. I’m really happy with how simple the whole thing was.

"Great software, but the licensing could be smoother"
Capture One itself works well and I don’t want to take away from that, the editing tools are solid. But the licensing and account management side can be a bit frustrating. I had to click around and dig through more pages than I expected just to figure things out. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I do think it could be made a lot clearer and easier for users.

"I just don't trust the tools anymore"
I really wanted to like Capture One, and the final image quality can be great, but the masking and layers have been such a pain for me. Simple edits end up taking way more clicks than they should, and every now and then the masks behave in a way I don’t expect. After dealing with that a few times, I’ve lost a lot of trust in the workflow. It’s frustrating because the results can look good, but getting there feels clunky and annoying.

"I’ve always had the feeling Capture One..."
I’ve always had the feeling Capture One was one of the more stable options for heavy editing, using it with big catalogs and a ton of RAW files has pretty much confirmed that for me. It just keeps moving along without those random crashes that make you question your life choices.

I think I’ve had one freeze in the last few weeks, but nothing was lost, so I’m not really counting that against it. When I’m editing late and already convinced I picked the right tool, stuff like that just reinforces it.

"Solid tools, but the menus are a cluttered mess"
The tools themselves are actually good, but the interface is kind of a crowded little disaster. It took me a while to figure out where everything was because the menus feel clunky and overstuffed.

"I finally moved over from Lightroom..."
I finally moved over from Lightroom after putting it off forever. Honestly. I was expecting the whole catalog import to be a bit of a mess, but it was actually smooth. Not perfect, but way better than I had built it up in my head.
I did have to go back and double-check a few edits and keywords here and there. Annoying. But most of my stuff came across fine, and the colors looked nicer right away, which genuinely surprised me.

I’m still figuring out where everything lives in Capture One, so there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve. Still. So far I’m really happy with it, and I’m glad I finally made the switch

"Took me a little while, but it paid off"
I’ll be fair, Capture One wasn’t instantly easy for me. I’d been using other editing apps for a while, so the layout and tools felt a bit unfamiliar at first, and I definitely spent a few evenings clicking around trying to figure out where everything was.

That said, once I watched a couple tutorials and gave myself time to mess with it, things started to click. I actually really like the workflow now and feel like I have more control over my edits. It does have a learning curve, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable if you’re willing to be patient with it.

"Tethering finally feels easy"
I’ve been using this on shoots and it just stays connected the whole day. No weird random drops like I used to deal with before. Compared to my old setup, it’s just...

"Pretty fair deal for what you get"
I’ve been using Capture One on a subscription for a while now, it feels like decent value to me. The updates are included, and I don’t have to drop a big chunk of money all at once, which is nice. Is it the cheapest option out there? No, definitely not. But if you’re working with RAW files every day, isn’t it worth paying for something that actually does the job well? For me, it’s been worth it.

"The raw processing feels a bit rough"
I don’t know, the raw processing just doesn’t look that great to me. The colors come out kind of strange, and the finer details seem to turn mushy quickly. It’s not unusable, but it feels a little undercooked.

"Editing feels way faster now"
My editing workflow feels so much smoother now with sessions and quick adjustments. It took me a minute to figure everything out, but once I got the hang of it, editing started feeling about a hundred times faster overall.
